About
The Aydar Peninsula is abundant in deep dark mahogany woods, rare flowers and herbs, exotic creatures, a healing water in the Pillar Lake, and rich in minerals, ores, and gems within the mountain range to the east. The area would be perfect for trade and commerce; however, the region is infested by Displacer Beasts.
Early History
It is unknown how the first settlers came to the region, but the impact that they had on the region was immense. They erected the Fallen Batille, Ghost Tower, and the Eyerie structures that are now in ruins today. The most glaring feature is the lack of people in the region. Legend says that the early settlers ventured out to The Hallowing and their souls were corrupted by an evil within the dark woods. Whether or not the legend is true is up for debate, but no one ventures into The Hallowing and comes back.
Aydar Tribe
Currently, the peninsula is inhabited by the Aydar Tribe. It is thought that the tribe are direct descendants of the early settlers that weren't foolish enough to go into The Hallowing, but tracing their direct lineage isn't possible as the Aydar are very superstitious and ritualistic. The tribe worships a centaur deity called Ayda. It is believed that Ayda will deliver the people from their grim lives and into a more prosperous livelihood. To appease Ayda, the Aydar people make frequent pilgrimages to the ruined sites and to Pillar Lake to make tributes. Additionally, once a year the entire tribe will make a pilgrimage to Shramika Shrine to offer a dead Displacer Beast to the Ayda Statue- a very deadly and perilous period of the year.
The tribe is nearing extinction as they are being constantly hunted by the Displacer Beasts. The Aydar have set up their final fortification in the location called Aydar Village. Here they will either die or will learn to fend off the Displacer Beasts.
