Worldbuilding Project
Welcome to Campaign Customs!
We are a group of worldbuilders and various other roleplaying enthusiasts collaborating on the creation of a fantasy world called "alastair". Members of our community have access to participate in the worldbuilding project by submitting their ideas for locations within our world. Once your location is submitted you immediately have access to edit the location in your profile. Your work can be viewed by the community as you work or you can wait to publish your work when you feel you have completed your location.
Getting Started
Step 1: Go to "Contribute to the World" under worldbuilding
Step 2: Submit your idea for a settlement, region, or a specific location on the map
Step 3: Go to "My Worldbuilding" and begin creating your location
*You may create as many locations as you'd like. They will all be available in your profile.
Using your Content
Campaign Customs isn't just a worldbuilding project though. Whether you are only a creator or a creator and a game master, there is a chance your content will end up in campaigns all over the world because the game masters in our community also commit to running games within the setting we are creating. This creates an opportunity for players to not only experience the portion of the world you have created, but they can also explore the map and get a realistic sense of different cultures scattered throughout the world since as they move from location to location they will be entering areas that other members have created. In some cases, the party may even end up in a city that one of the players has created. We hope that this helps create more realistic and diverse exploration, excitement within your players, and stimulates more interest in our members to bring their own locations to life!
Adventuring
If you are interested in running a campaign in our world you should familiarize yourself with our Explore the World page. Here you can find all the public entries that currently make up our world. Each entry will provide you with a thorough description of the location it is linked to on our Interactive World Map. When you decide you are ready to submit your own location to the world map go to our Contribute to the World page and get started. Once you make your location public the community will be able to see your work and use it in their campaigns if they so choose.
Campaign Outline
Are you interested in running a campaign in our world but new to being a game master? Our Create a Campaign page will allow you to organize your thoughts with an extensive campaign outline or a simple session outline. The campaign outline will help you design the structure of the entire campaign that you'd like to follow while the session outline will simply help you prepare for your next session. We recommend you try using both to help you organize "Big" and "Small" picture content separately. You can go back and edit your campaign and session outlines later and you can create as many as you would like. They will all be saved in your profile for later use. This is a great way to keep your content separate in case you are playing with multiple groups.
