About
Nyanhone is a small island that is isolated from much of the rest of the world. The island is home to the Okuru Tribe, an ancient tribe that has lived on the island since the dawn of creation. The Okuru Tribe has survived for years by hunting and gathering. However, the location of the island has caused the island to be mostly forgotten by the rest of the world and thus, the Okuru Tribe has felt the impact of little to no interaction with the outside world. The tribal leaders prioritized preserving nature on the island, but there is very little way to preserve wildlife and the tribe's existence on such a small island forever. Therefore, the population of the Okuru Tribe slowly began to dwindle down to dangerously low numbers.
This was not always the case though. There was a time when Nyanhone was visited by the outside world. The first ship to land on the shores of the island was captained by a man named Donovan Ambard. Captain Ambard found the island by mistake and he and his crew met a grizzly death at the hands of the Okuru Tribe's hunters. Captain Ambard's ship was destroyed and used to create shelter for the natives. After the massacre the natives found several barrels filled with goods the tribe had never seen. It did not take long for the tribal leaders to realize that if the gods ever delivered another group of outsiders to their shores they would establish a way to get more of these goods more frequently. "Duroh", they called it, exchange, in the Okuru language.
Futures visits to the island by outsiders were infrequent for years and when ships did arrive the Okuru did not know what to offer in exchange for the goods they wanted. During this time the Okuru did not realize they were sitting on valuable gems sitting beneath the mountain in the middle of their island. It wasn't until the ships stopped arriving on the shores of the island that a young Okuru man name Shilman Il'Rok courageously explored the depths of the mines and found a bounty so plentiful that the natives still have not removed all of the gems from the mines. Shilman Il'Rok's discovery was deemed an act of courage so great that the tribal leaders elevated him to a level of respect within the tribe that he eventually became the Chief Elder of the tribe. His descendants have been Chief Elders of the Okuru Tribe ever since.
The Okuru Tribe faced its most difficult internal struggle when a shaman named Por'Lok began to plant seeds of doubt within the tribe about the beliefs of the tribe's ancestors. Por'Lok's attempt at changing the tribe's beliefs was rooted in his hopes that he could show the tribe that there were ways that they could stop their inevitable extinction or at the very least, improve their living conditions. The tribal leaders, especially Shilman Il'Rok, were not fond of Por'Lok's preaching. They called it mutiny and disrespectful of the their gods. Por'Lok was exiled from the tribe and sentenced to death, but his wits allowed him to sneak into the mountains to live out his days.

Quick Reference
There are three main stories revolving around the birth of Nyanhone and the original members of the Okuru Tribe. These stories are referred to as The Pillars of Life. The first pillar is creation, the second, death, and the third is immortality. Most of the ancient elders of the tribe understood the first two pillars were reality and immortality was nothing more than wishful thinking. One man, a shaman named Por'Lok, was not convinced by the notion that immortality was attainable. His relentless desire to learn the means of immortality was not because he wanted to live forever, it was to appease his arrogance. He desired nothing more than to prove to the rest of the tribe that he was right.
Eventually, Por'Lok's obsession and disagreement with the tribal leaders about preaching different opinions than theirs led to Por'Lok being exiled from the tribe. Originally, the tribal leaders wanted to have Por'Lok executed, but Por'Lok assumed as much and fled into the mountains in the center of the island. The tribal leaders sent hunters after Por'Lok but when only a handful of those hunters returned from the hunt with tales of the horrific deaths suffered by the others the tribal leaders decided it was best to simply leave Por'Lok in the mountains. Por'Lok had no intention of returning to the small village either, at least not until he had found a source of immortality.
Unfortunately for the obsessive shaman, immortality was a slippery target to get his hands on. For years, Por'Lok studied immortality with little to no luck, but eventually he found a lead that appeared as though it would pay dividends. It occurred to Por'Lok that he had spent much of his time studying looking for a way to extend the form of life that the deities had provided their subjects. He came to the conclusion that no mortal could improve a work of art created by the creators. He did, however, believe that he could create a piece of art that was capable of protecting the creation of his gods. To do so, Por'Lok knew he would have to call upon the powers of the world, he would have to create something that grew from the ground to utilize the power that the gods gave the world.
To Por'Lok there was nothing more beautiful than the flowers that grew in the wilderness of the island. When he wasn't studying he would stand at the edge of the cliffs near his mountain hut and look down at the wilderness. One day while he stared down at the flora below him he thought about the way that flowers would come into existence as a bud, a protective pod that was seemingly immune to the effects of time. While the beauty of the flower was protected within the bud its beauty was held in perfect form. Its life was endless until the bud blossomed, opened, let the flower see the world, and let the decaying nature of time see the flower. There had been many times when Por'Lok had half-heartedly wished that the flowers could return to their protective buds as he stared at the dying flowers of the wilderness. It made sense to him at that moment that he would create a flower that would only blossom if told to do so and he would store the soul of a man or woman within the protective bud so time could not get its greedy hands on the soul.
